external gravity in Gadget-4

Hello,
I have started using Gadget-4 and saw that we can now include an external
potential. I am trying to add a static Milky Way potential to my simulation
but am having trouble figuring out how exactly to do so. Do I need to edit
my initial conditions and/or parameter file, and if so what exactly do I
need to edit? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
