You need to add the directory with libhdf5.so.0 to the environment
variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
In bash, use
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/path/to/hdf5/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
then try running gadget. Other shells may have different ways to set
variables.

LD_LIBRARY_PATH tells the dynamic linker where to look for shared
libraries.
