Journey to the origin of the universe, 2nd stage -
Planck
satellite, launched successfully. Congratulations to the Planck team!
May Planck be a very successful experiment, and may the B-modes and fNL (
two biggest things expected from Planck in my opinion) be there!

According to the Planck website, the HFI has cooled down to 0.1K, and both LFI and HFI are no
w taking the science data. Planck is only a few days before reaching L2. Congratulati

According to the Planck website, the Fight Light Survey is starting today. At the Paris Cosmo
logy conference above, Reno Mandolesi, a PI of the Planck LFI, gave a nice talk on th
e status update on LFI, and showed a preliminary map of a strip of the sky observed b
y Planck as of July 24. He then compared Planck's data of a region on the Galactic pl
ane to WMAP's, showing great sensitivty that Planck has achieved for the first few ho
urs (? - I forgot exactly how many hours they have spent on the first strip they obse
rved) of observations. Nice!
