Getting to MPA

From Munich
If you stay at a hotel in Munich:

  1. Take a train for "Garching-Forschungszentrum." Do not take those for "Frottmaning" or "Kieferngarten," as they stop in the middle and do not make it to the terminal. (The terminal is Garching-Forschungszentrum.) Also, do not take a wrong train for "Klinikum-Grosshadern."
  2. Get off the train at the terminal "Garching-Forschungszentrum." (It is denoted as "U" in the map below.) It takes about 25 minutes from Odeonsplats or Universitat. 
  3. Walk down south on "Boltzmannstrasse" until the end of the road.
  4. Turn left onto "Karl-Schwarzschild-Strasse." See the map below.


From Garching-Hochbruck
If you stay at a hotel in Garching-Hochbruck:
  1. Take a train for "Garching-Forschungszentrum."Do not take those for "Frottmaning" or "Kieferngarten," as they stop in the middle and do not make it to the terminal. (The terminal is Garching-Forschungszentrum.) Also, do not take a wrong train for "Klinikum-Grosshadern."

From the airport
 If you wish to come to MPA directly from the Munich Airport:

  1. Take a train called "S-Bahn," with the number "S1". Use  this page to look up a time table.
  2. Get off the train at "Neufahrn," which is only two stations from the Munich Airport. 
  3. Take a bus for "690: Garching-Forschungszentrum." Do not take a wrong bus for "690: Eching"! Use this page to look up a time table.
  4. Get off the train at the terminal "Garching-Forschungszentrum." (It is denoted as "U" in the map below.) It takes about 30 minutes from Neufahrn. 
  5. Walk down south on "Boltzmannstrasse" until the end of the road.
  6. Turn left onto "Karl-Schwarzschild-Strasse." Also see the map below.



    From Garching to the MPA
     If you stay at a hotel in Garching, you can either:
    • Take a subway to "Garching-Forschungszentrum" (only one stop away from Garching), or
    • Walk [about 30 minutes. See below for directions]
