************************************************************************************ On 20-21 May 2000, a TMR mini-workshop on "Optimal methods for extracting information from galaxy spectra in large redshift surveys" was held on the island of Porquerolles, about 50 km from Marseille. The idea was to bring together people expertise in population synthesis, theoretical models of galaxy formation, optimal methods for extracting information from complicated data sets, and large surveys of galaxies at low and high redshifts, to talk about how to make the best use of redshift survey spectra for addressing a variety of issues in galaxy formation. Organizers: Stephane Charlot (IAP/MPA), Guinevere Kauffmann (MPA), Ofer Lahav (IoA), Olivier le Fevre (Marseille) ************************************************************************************* PORQUEROLLES MEETING SCHEDULE Saturday, 20 May 9:15 Introductory Remarks (Kauffmann) 10 min 9:30 SESSION 1 --- What are the best spectral indicators for deriving the physical parameters of galaxies?
