The citation reads: "The Dannie Heineman Prize for 2003 is awarded to Rashid Sunyaev for his visionary insights into the interaction of radiation and matter on scales from the Universe to black holes." The list of previous recipients, all of which are well known by crutial contributions to astrophysics of the last 3 decades, is given below. The Heineman Prize for Astrophysics is awarded jointly by the American Institute of Physics and the American Astronomical Society and is funded by the Heineman Foundation.
